What is this course about?
The Somatic Art Practice® Introductory (Level 1) Professional Course focuses on the methodology and pedagogy of somatic artmaking.
SAP's mission is to offer basic inter- and transdisciplinary embodiment tools to educators, creatives, and therapists.
The embodiment tools come from the somatic practice of Body-Mind Centering®, fine arts and visual arts (drawing, sculpture/installation, creative writing, photography, and video dance).
The methodology of SAP is transdisciplinary, somatic, and arts research-based.
The pedagogy is experiential, inquiry-based, relational, and integrative.
During this introductory course, you will have the opportunity to gain basic embodiment tools from various fields/disciplines in this way offering the possibility of application to a variety of educational, therapeutic, and creative environments with different abilities, ages, and 'languages'.
Experiential Anatomy and Somatic Movement (BMC®), Fine Arts, Visual Arts, and creative writing interweave and layer, offering consciousness and expansion not only into somatic depths but also into cognitive connections and personal meanings through expressive, associative, and intuitive art-making processes.
Apart from basic principles of the somatic practice of Body-Mind Centering, we will also explore fine art materials for enhancing the process of embodiment by matching or countering the physical and energy qualities of specific body tissues with the physical and energy qualities of specific art materials via texture, rhythm, weight, sensorial input, consistency, temperature, size, etc.
Art-making during the somatisations or at the end of them serves as a means to: embodiment, expression, creation, and integration of all perceived and lived dimensions of experience (physical and emotional).

The Somatic Art Practice® Introductory (Level 1) course consists of 2 parts: online and in-person.
If you are interested in the SAP Introductory Course certification, you need to participate in both parts. If you are interested in getting to know SAP for personal/professional development, you can participate in one/any of the two parts as a standalone training.
The next online part of the training will be announced soon. Please feel free to join the waitlist and express your interest by emailing Marina directly.
Recordings of the sessions and additional resources such as audio somatisations and a coursebook will be available as well.
The in-person week residency 2026 will take place in the 200-year-old aristocratic mansion of Oikia Karapanou, on Aegina Island in Greece!

The residential part of the course is optional.
If you are going for the SAP Introductory Course Certification, you need to attend it.
Otherwise, it can be booked separately, as a standalone training.
If you choose to get certified in the Somatic Art Practice® Introductory-Level 1 Course (100h), you'll need to complete both the online and the residency parts.
If you only want a certificate of attendance, you can complete either only the online or only the residency part.
(There will be possibilities to complete the missing hours of training in the future programmes and then certify, if you decide to do so)

What language is the programme taught in?
The programme is taught in English. However, I speak fluent Castellan, Catalan and Greek, so if you understand English well enough to participate online and read the resource materials, I can help with some clarifications in those other languages.
Is the programme live or pre-recorded?
The programme is taught online Live, so it's a unique opportunity to get feedback, participate in discussions and experiential group work and get your personal questions answered. Apart from that, the mentoring and individual supervision give you a chance to bring your doubts, case studies and explorations for deepening the practice.
Will I get access to recordings if I can't join some online sessions?
Yes, all recordings will be made available to you through a platform along with resources, extra materials and images.
Can I participate only in the retreat or only in the online course?
Yes, you can choose to do only the online course or book only the in-person retreat. Just keep in mind, that if you want to get a professional certificate, you will need to complete both as well as prepare some extra hours of your own professional practice and teaching.
Can I do the online course and then decide about the residency later?

After the online course ends, there will be a break of a few month dedicated to a personal project and professional practice hours, for those who want to get certified. If you decide to join the certification path, you'll need to let me know one month before the end of the online course, so I can prepare your assignments and set up mentoring sessions.
